BERLIN, CT (April 15, 2023) - The Tufts University golf team's four scorers on Saturday all placed within the individual top 10 as the Jumbos sit second out of 10 teams at the Bill Detrick Invitational hosted by Trinity College.
Freshman
Holden Kittelberger and fifth-year
Travis Clauson shot one-over 73's for the Jumbos on Saturday to tie for second individually. They are five shots behind the four-under 68 scored by Trinity's Nick Li which leads the tournament after one day. A total of 52 players finished today's round.
Kittelberger birdied 10, 11 and 12 to start his back nine and had four birdies overall coming in. Clauson was very consistent with 14 pars, three bogies and two birdies in his round.
Senior
Kemp Bassett, who had an eagle on the sixth hole, shot two-over 74 and is in a tie for fifth. Junior
Jack Meehan was Tufts' fourth scorer with a four-over 76 (tied for ninth).
The Jumbos' 296 team total is five behind Trinity whose four best were at 291 strokes. Tufts is nine shots ahead of a second Trinity team which is third place after Saturday's round.
Sophomore
Sean Rone was Tufts' fifth golfer today and had an 82.
Day two on Sunday starts at Timberlin Golf Club at 11 am.
