BALLSTON SPA, NY (April 8, 2023) - The Tufts University golf team played well on Saturday in their first rounds of the 2023 spring season, recording a best-four score of 293 at the Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College at Ballston Spa Country Club.
Among a field of talented teams, that score has Tufts tied for sixth place out of 19 teams. The Jumbos are behind Husson (282), Babson (286), Middlebury (288), RPI (288) and Trinity (288), and are tied with NYU.
Tufts was led today by fifth-year
Travis Clauson, who shot one-over 72 to tie for 16th individually. Both
Jack Meehan and
Holden Kittelberger shot two-over 73's to place themselves in the top 20.
Kemp Bassett was the fourth Jumbo scorer at 75.
Reed Bodley also started for Tufts and shot 79, while
Sean Rone is there individually and finished with a 76.
Twelve players were under par today with Williams College's Phillip Clifton leading the tournament after one day with a four-under 67. A total of 108 golfers played in the tournament on Saturday.
Tee times begin at 8 am on day two of the tournament tomorrow.
