Meehan's Two-Under 69 Leads Golf To Sixth Place at Skidmore Tournament

BALLSTON SPA, NY (April 9, 2023) - Junior Jack Meehan shot a two-under 69 on Sunday to lead the Tufts University golf team on the second day of the Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College at Ballston Spa Country Club.

Tufts placed sixth out of 19 teams at the two-day tournament, which began their spring season. The Jumbos' best-four on Sunday totaled 291 strokes, which was two better than their 293 on Saturday. Their 584 total was three strokes behind fifth-place Hamilton (581).

Meehan carded a three-under 32 on the front nine today, then had an eagle three on the 13th hole leading to his 69 score. That tied for the third lowest round on Sunday. His two-day 142 score was ninth individually. A total of 108 golfers played this weekend.

Following an even-par 36 on the back nine today, fifth-year Travis Clauson finished at 74 for the Jumbos. Freshman Holden Kittelberger also shot 74 on Sunday for the Jumbos. Senior Kemp Bassett was a two-under 33 after nine today and finished at 74 to round out the Tufts scorers.

Clauson's 146 tournament total tied for 20th and Kittelberger was tied for 25th with a 147 over two rounds.

Playing individually this weekend, Jumbo sophomore Sean Rone had a 75 today to finish with a two-day total of 151. Freshman Reed Bodley was Tufts' fifth golfer and came in at 80 today and 159 for the weekend.

Trinity College surged on Sunday to win the event, recording a 276 team score today and 564 for the tournament. Bantam Nicholas Li won medalist honors with a 66 today for a 135 (-7) tournament score.

The Jumbos will play at Trinity's Bill Detrick Invitational next weekend.
