ROCHESTER, NY (May 27, 2023) – Two more Tufts University Jumbos added to the team's All-American total at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, giving head coach
Kristen Morwick's Jumbos six total honors for the meet.
Senior
Lia Rotti was fifth in the triple jump this morning, and graduate student
Hannah Neilon was sixth in the 800 meters final this afternoon. Those performances are added to senior
Jaidyn Appel's third in the high jump, Rotti's fourth in the long jump and graduate student
Kelsie Hao's sixth in the long jump and seventh in the pole vault from earlier in the meet.
These performances scored 23 team points for the Jumbos at the meet, good for a ninth-place finish in the team standings. Tufts added to their seventh- and eighth-place team finishes at the last two NCAA Indoor meets and their sixth at the 2021 outdoor meet as recent top 10 national showings.
Rotti's 12.26m (40'2 ¾") in her second jump of the flights would end up fifth in the triple jump today. She's now a seven-time All-American, including her fourth in the long jump this past Thursday. The 2022 indoor national champion in the TJ, she was fifth indoors in the event earlier this year, sixth outdoors in 2022 and fifth outdoors in 2021.
Neilon had assured herself of an All-American award by running a school-record time in the heats yesterday to make the 800 final. Today in the final she ran a 2:11.17 time that was sixth nationally. She adds that to her fourth from the NCAA Indoor 800 back in March for two career All-American races.
