Tufts Golf Places Second at One-Day Skidmore Fall Invitational

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (October 12, 2024) - The Tufts University men's golf team finished day one strong, as they finished in second place of 21 teams in day one of the Skidmore Fall Invitational at Saratoga Spa State Park. Day two on Sunday was rained out, so the results from the first round stand as final.

Leading the way for the Jumbos was sophomore JP Noone. Noone had a tough start to the day with three bogies in the front nine, but responded with brilliance in the back half. Noone stayed completely even through the back nine, capping things off with a nice birdie on hole 12. He finished with a 74, two strokes over par and good for sixth place overall.

A single stroke behind Noone was graduate student Eric Lancellotti. Lancellotti experienced the opposite of Noone, playing well in the front half and hitting three bogies on the back half. However, Lancellotti would birdie holes 12 and 13, which combined with a birdie on hole three to give the golfer a 75. Lancellotti's +3 finish was good for ninth place individually.

Even with Lancellotti was Nick McCabe. Fresh off of an individual win in the Bowdoin Invitational, the sophomore started strong with a birdie on hole six. That was his only below-par hole of the day, as a trio of bogies on the back half saw him finish with a 75 on day one.

Finishing the scoring for Tufts on day one was junior Holden Kittelberger. He started the day with two bogies, but immediately turned it around with a birdie on hole three. Another birdie on hole 10 lifted him to a 78 score, good for six over par and 36th place individually.

Rounding out round one for the Jumbos was junior Reed Bodley. He finished with an 84, and birdied on holes one, three and 12. Bodley finished 94th overall individually.

The Jumbos sat tied for second place through round one with an overall score of 302, 14 strokes over par and tied with Williams and Skidmore.
