BRUNSWICK, ME (November 16, 2024) – All-Americans
Eric Lundgren and
Armaan Sikka both won two individual events and were part of a relay win as the Tufts University men's swimming & diving team started its season at Bowdoin College with 197-90 victory on Saturday.
Lundgren,
Emmett Adams, Sikka and
Soeren Euvrard opened the meet with a 1:32.26 time to win the 200 medley relay.
Sophomore
Dan Godino also had a good day for Tufts, winning twice. His first came early in the 1000 freestyle with a 9:55.38 time.
Lundgren posted his first individual win of the season in the 100 backstroke, by over three seconds in a 50.24 time. Adams followed suit with his first victory, winning the 100 breaststroke in 58.11 seconds to edge Polar Bear Penn Lee by sixth-tenths of a second.
Euvrard and Sikka would take the freestyle sprints for the Jumbos. Euvrard's 21.18 won the 50 and Sikka was first in the 100 at 48.30 seconds. Sikka was the fastest of four swimmers within 0.18 of each other in the event.
Tufts won the last five individual events, starting with fifth-year
Bora Calis swimming 2:09.09 for first in the 200 breaststroke. Godina followed with his second distance free win of the day in the 500 (4:46.67), and Sikka earned his second victory with a time of 51.26 seconds in the 100 buttefly.
Lundgren wrapped up his day with a victory in the 200 individual medley in a 1:56.25 time.
Jumbos
Elias Brandt and
Cameron Yuen were the only two divers at the meet, with Brandt winning in one-meter (284.32) and Yuen's 283.05 taking first in three-meter.
Among second-place Jumbos, freshman
Sam Harris swam 1:46.43 to lead the team in the 200 freestyle. Calis added a 2:00.19 time in the 200 butterfly that was also Tufts' best, as was senior
Brian Uribe swimming 1:56.62 in the 200 backstroke. To finish the day, Tufts' 200 free relay of Euvrard, freshman
Ryan Manson, Adams and senior
Charlie Duffy were runners-up in 1:25.75.
Tufts' Uribe was a hair behind Bowdoin's Liam Roehr in the 200 back, while Jaran Depew and Rhys Edwards was also an individual winner for the hosts. Bowdoin closed the meet with a 200 free relay victory.
The Jumbos will be in a quad meet at WPI with Williams College and Trinity College next Saturday.
