CAMBRIDGE, MA (December 6, 2024) - The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team leads the MIT Winter Invite after Friday night's action following some strong performances in the two events.
With a 151 team score, the Jumbos are first followed by RPI in second place at a 121 score and then host MIT in third at a 101 score.
In the 800 freestyle relay, Tufts' team of
Ethan Schreier,
Eric Lundgren,
Nick Montfort and
Armaan Sikka won with a 6:37.25 time. The mark makes them the #2 foursome for the event in Tufts history, and it's below the 2024 NCAA B cut (6:40.49).
The Jumbos also scored fourth in the 800 free relay.
Soeren Euvrard,
Eli Houlton,
Sam Harris and
Emmett Adams posted a 6:48.72 time.
Tufts swimmers went 1-2-3 in the 1650 freestyle tonight. Sophomore
Rafae Shafi won the event with a 15:37.77 time that was well below the NCAA B mark (15:50.88). Sophomore
Dan Godino was second in the race with a PR time of 15:43.50 that was also a B cut and made him #3 all-time at Tufts. Freshman
Ron Lyubman took third place tonight in a 15:52.38 finish.
In the time trials tonight, Tufts' top performance was a 50.85 mark in the 100 individual medley by
Charlie Duffy that made him the #2 Jumbo all-time in the event.
The Jumbos will be back at MIT tomorrow for morning and evening sessions scheduled to start at 10 AM and 6 PM, respectively.
