BOSTON, MA (February 10, 2024) – Freshman
Evan Wang led the Tufts University men's swimming & diving team with a pair of excellent times at the Boston Winter Open on Saturday.
In the evening session, Wang won the 200 breaststroke out of 13 individuals with a 2:03.89 mark. Later on in the time trials, he swam a very good 51.15 in the 100 individual medley.
The Jumbos consider the non-scoring meet as the start of the championship season, with some of the team members who will not take part in the NESCAC meet seeing their final action of the year.
Wang was also part of a strong trio of times for Tufts in the 100 breaststroke. They were led by freshman
Will Kaminski, who was third overall in the 19-man race with a 56.73 time. Graduate student
Luke Isayiw was fourth in the race (57.12) and Wang was fifth (57.26).
Adding to his performance, Kaminski swam 46.67 in the 100 freestyle and led off the 200 freestyle relay that was third in a 1:27.22 time. The foursome included Isayiw, sophomore Lou Demetriades and freshman
Joshua Harrison. Kaminski also recorded a 26.12 in the 50 breaststroke time trial.
Senior
Bora Calis in the 100 breaststroke time trial (57.65) joined Wang and Kaminski in producing strong marks during that session.
Earlier in the day, sophomore
Jack Moore's 52.23 mark in the 100 butterfly, a 1:44.41 in the 200 freestyle by freshman
Jan Springer and the 200 medley relay's 1:35.34 were highlights. Tufts' foursome was senior
Sean Carr, freshman
Arbert Xu, Moore and Springer.
For one-meter diving on Saturday, the Jumbos had three entries. Junior
Cameron Yuen was third (289.15), sophomore
Jeremy Lawrence took fifth (274.34) and senior
Ethan Cobos scored seventh (253.70).
