BOSTON, MA (February 10, 2024) – First-year
Aliyah Larson broke the Tufts University Women's Swimming school record in the 50 breaststroke today at the Boston Winter Open hosted by Boston University.
This evening, in a mixed 50 breaststroke time trial, Larson's 28.74 time lowered the previous school mark of 29.07 by her teammate
Quinci Wheeler from 2023. Swimming in today's earlier session as well, Larson won the 100 breaststroke event out of 12 individuals with an excellent 1:03.47 time.
The Jumbos consider the non-scoring meet as the start of the championship season, with some of the team members who will not take part in the NESCAC meet seeing their final action of the year.
Also in the early session at BU, first-year
Natalie Lesh was a strong third out of 26 in the 200 freestyle with a 1:54.02 mark. She then timed 53.59 seconds in the 100 freestyle in the later session.
Sophomore
Katharine Skelly had a solid day for Tufts. Early she swam a 1:00.02 mark in the 100 backstroke. At night Skelly placed sixth out of 14 in the 200 backstroke (2:08.10) and then had a 53.07 time for a 100 freestyle time trial.
