MIDDLEBURY, VT (February 15, 2024) - The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team opened the 2024 NESCAC Championship Meet on Thursday night by placing third in the 800 freestyle relay.
In the only event held tonight, Tufts had two relay teams in the 800 free relay. The foursome of sophomore
Quinci Wheeler, first-year
Selin Tuncay, junior
Cierra McCarty and sophomore
Madeleine Dunn were third overall in a 7:32.80 time. This group earns an All-Conference award for placing third. The time is also well below the 7:39.09 NCAA "B" qualifying mark.
The Jumbos also had the team of sophomore
Isa Chambers, first-year
Elena Harrison, junior
Emma Claus and senior
Sahar Mumtaz combine on a 7:40.94 mark that was 13th in the race.
Combined, the two Tufts relays scored 72 points tonight, which sits second overall out of 11 teams after one day.
The NESCAC Championship gets underway in full force tomorrow with morning preliminaries beginning at 10 am and the finals at 6 pm. Middlebury College is hosting.
