Malia Leung placed sixth and first-year
Arya Gupta took 18th in the three-meter competition at the NCAA Diving Regional held at Colby College on Saturday.
Leung, who was third in the one-meter event at the Regional on Friday, scored 434.60 on 11 three-meter dives today to place sixth out of 27 competitors. Gupta, 25th in one-meter yesterday, earned a 384.75 score today in three-meter.
Unofficially, Leung earns one of the Colby Regional's eight berths into the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships based on her third-place performance in one-meter on Friday. Diving berths will be officially announced on Monday (Mar. 4). The 2024 national championship meet is coming up March 20-23 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
In today's competition, Leung's top voluntary score came on a Back 1 1/2 Somersault 1/2 Twist Free (42.00). She later had her best optional dive score in her last attempt of the day, a Back 1 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Free that earned her 48.00 points.
For Gupta, her best scores today were a Reverse Dive Pike (37.05) in voluntaries, and a Reverse 1 ½ Somersault Tuck (41.00) among her optional dives.
MIT's Fiora Beratahani won the three-meter Regional title today with a 488.10 score.
