Women's Track and Field Finishes Indoor Season With Tufts National Qualifying Meet

MEDFORD, MA (March 2, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's track and field squad finished their last team meet of the 2023-24 season on Saturday, as the Jumbos hosted the Tufts National Qualifying Meet inside Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center.

In a very strong field of athletes either trying to better their national qualifying marks or jump over the current cut line for the 2024 NCAA Championships, the Jumbos had a strong contingent in the field. In the 60m hurdles, senior Sarah Pillone finished first with a time of 9.01 seconds to earn the win. Also in the event, Antonia Knoth set a new personal-best time of 10.18, while first-year Tessa Player also finished with a new collegiate-best of 10.54 seconds in the prelims.

In other events, Amelia Neiman ran a new personal-best time of 2:20.38 to finish fifth in the 800 meter run while Knoth was sixth after posting a 2:22.18.

First-year Lexi King cleared her first three attempts, the last coming at 1.59 meters, but dropped out as she failed to clear 1.64 meters in the high jump as she took sixth place.

In the pole vault, first-year Emma Gall was eighth after clearing 3.38 meters, and Jordan Andrew was third in the triple jump after leaping 10.50 meters. Andrew took fourth in the long jump with a final mark of 5.14 meters, while first-year Nora Jean-Jacques set a new collegiate-best of 5.06 meters to finish fifth overall.

In the weight throw, junior Liz Graham had a great day as she established a new personal-best in the weight throw of 14.84 meters to take third place. The throw came on her fifth throw of the day, breaking her previous personal-best three times Saturday with other throws of 14.25 and 14.75 meters. First-year Nicole Kuhl also set a new collegiate-best throw with a 13.54 meter toss.

After Saturday, it's looks like only Sarah Firth will head to the NCAA Championships in the pole vault as her mark of 3.83 meters is ranked ninth in Division III. Official entries into the NCAA Championships will be announced on Sunday, March 3 on NCAA.com
