GREENSBORO, NC (March 20, 2024) – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team's 200 medley relay closed Wednesday's action at the NCAA Division III Championships with a school-record and fourth-place finish to highlight the Jumbos' first day at the national championship meet.
The 1:41.13 record time for the 200 medley relay was produced by first-year
Elena Harrison, sophomore
Quinci Wheeler, sophomore
Jade Foltenyi and senior
Jillian Cudney. They broke their own previous school record of 1:41.30 from the New England Small College Athletic Conference meet in February. Wheeler and Foltenyi repeat as All-Americans in the event from last year's sixth-place finish. It's Wheeler's fourth and Foltenyi's third national honor overall. The All-American recognition is the first for Harrison.
A three-time NCAA qualifier (2022-24), Cudney also had her best-ever individual performance at the NCAA Championship meet today. She was just 0.03 off her own school record in the 50 freestyle preliminaries with a 23.14 to make the championship final. Then tonight she tied her record of 23.11 to tie for fifth in the championship final. Between this and the relay, Cudney is now a nine-time All-American.
Sophomore
Madeleine Dunn in the 500 freestyle earned an honorable mention All-American spot with her 4:56.82 time on Wednesday morning for ninth in the preliminaries. Then in the consolation final tonight, she was eighth to end up 16th overall with a time of exactly five minutes. This is her second straight All-American honor in the 500 free and third overall.
Head coach
Adam Hoyt's Jumbos scored 44.5 team points today for seventh place thus far. Five Jumbos earned All-American honors in three events.
