WINDSOR, CT (April 6, 2024) - The Tufts University men's golf team opened their spring season today at the Bill Detrick Invitational played at the par 70 Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor Connecticut. On the first day of action, the Jumbos finished +22 (302) finishing 7th place out of 15 teams.
First-year
Nick McCabe shot a four-over birding three holes on the back nine. McCabe started off the first four holes by saving for par then went on to bogey three holes on the front nine, he finished the front going five over 40. McCabe had a breakout back nine as he finished the tenth hole with his first birdie of the day. He responded to a bogey on 11 by paring 12 then a birdie on 13. McCabe would have one more birdie on 18 to finish the back with a 34 and shooting a 74 on the day which puts him tied for fifteenth on the day.
First-year
Keegan Carnell shot five over 75 on the day in individual play. Carnell had three birdies on the day two of his birdies were on tough par 3 holes and he is currently tied for 25.
Sophomore
Holden Kittelberger shot a 75 on the day, he started off hot with a birdie on one, and he also birdied the tenth hole. Kittelberger had 11 pars on the day finishing five over 75 and is tied for 24th. First-year
Brendan Roy finished the day six over 76, he had two birdies on the day and a shot even par 35 on the front nine.
Sophomore
Reed Bodley finished the day with a 76 and senior
Jack Meehan shot a 78.
NESCAC foes Bowdoin College and Williams College are tied for first with a team score of fifteen over 295. Hosts Trinity College sits in third place as their golfers combined sixteen over 296, Trinity's (B) team sits in fourth place shooting seventeen over 297, and Middlebury College and The University of Hartford are tied at fifth place with scores of nineteen over 299.
