WINDSOR, CT (April 7, 2024) - The Tufts University men's golf team competed in the second round of the Bill Detrick Invitational hosted by Trinity College on Sunday. The tournament was played at the par 70 Keney Park Golf Course.
The Jumbos finished the tournament in 6th place as they shot 15 over (295) today, and 37 over (597) in total. Sophomore
Holden Kittelberger was the lone Jumbo the that broke the top ten as he finished tied for fourth shooting five over (145) through two days. On day one Kittelberger went five over (75). Then on day two, he was dialed in as he shot even par (70) which was the third-best in the field of 81 players on day two, as two players shot two under (68).
Kittelberger finished the day with five birdies and eight pars. On the front nine he started with a par on hole one, then he birdied the second hole which is a long par five, and finished out the eight remaining holes with five pars and two bogeys for a front nine score of 36. On the back nine, he broke out as he had four birdies on the back nine. He started with a birdie on ten, then responded to a tough bogey on 11 with a birdie on 12. He made a birdie on holes 14 and 17 but made a tough bogey on 18 to finish with a 34 on the back.
Senior
Jack Meehan shot four over (74) on the second day after he shot a 78 on the first day finishing the tournament 12 over (152). Meehan had three birdies on the day, after sinking a par on hole 1 he birdied hole 2. He finished the front with a 37. On the back nine, he dropped two birdies, one on 13 and another on 17 finishing with another 37. Meehan finished the tournament tied for 34.
Sophomore
Reed Bodley also finished tied for 34 in the tournament going 12 over (152). He finished day two shooting five over (75). Bodley was one of five players in the field to birdie-hole 15. He also birdied hole two and hole five.
First-year
Nick McCabe finished the tournament tied for 23. He had a round 2, ore of six over (76) and finished the tournament 10 over (150), today he had 12 pars on the day. Fellow first-year
Brendan Roy finished the tournament 14 over (154). He shot eight over (78) today with a birdie on 10.
First-year
Keegan Carnell finished tied at 30 going 11 over (151) in the two days of individual play. Today Carnell had two birdies on the day and finished six over (76).
Trinity College finished in first place (585), The University of Hartford finished second (589) Bowdoin College and Williams College finished tied for third (590) and Trinity (B) finished fifth (594).
Up next the Jumbos will travel to Ballston Spa, NY to compete in the Tim Brown Invitational. The event will be played at Ballston Spa Country Club. The tournament will start Saturday, April 13.
