Golf Finishes 34th After Round 2 of NCAA Championships

HENDERSON, NV (May 15, 2024) -- The Tufts University golf team continued round two of the NCAA Division III Championships at the par-72 Legacy Golf Course today outside of Las Vegas. 

Coming into day two the Jumbos were 10 shots back from the projected cut of the top teams that would continue on to day three. The Jumbos finished the day shooting a 316 bringing their total score up to 618 after two days which was 30 shots back from making the cut of the top 18 teams. Tufts would finish 34th overall at the NCAA event. 

Sophomore Holden Kittelberger had a good day on the links as he finished with a three-over 75 which is tied for 65th place individually. Kittelberger finished the first nine holes even as he had two birdies, one on hole 13 and another on hole 15. He had two bogeys on the first nine that kept him even. On the final nine holes of the day, he finished three over as he had one birdie on hole seven. He finished the tournament with a total score of four-over. 

First year JP Noone finished the second day going four-over 76 and is tied for 125th. Noone went four-over on the first nine holes of the day, then he settled down on the last nine holes as he had two birdies both coming on his final three holes as he birdied holes seven and nine finishing out even par. 

Sophomore Reed Bodley finished day two eight-over 81 and is tied for 186th as he had one birdie on the day. Bodley had a score of 17-over after two days. 

Senior Jack Meehan finished the day 13-over 85 and had a total score of 17-over in two days which is tied for 186th. Meehan had an eagle on hole 17 of the first nine holes, and he finished the day with one birdie. First-year Nick McCabe finished 13-over 85 today and is also tied for 186th. 

Wittenberg University was the last team to make the top 18 and continue playing. They finished with a score of 588 after day two. Wittenberg is tied at 17 with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps who Tufts was grouped with the last two days. 

Redlands currently leads the tournament as they shot 288 today and are currently 13-under after day 2. Kenyon College is currently two shots behind Redlands with a score of 11-under 565. Methodist University who sat in first yesterday currently sits in third, three shots back from the lead with a score of 10-under 566. 

Individually Oglethorpe's Michael O'Sullivan sits in first place as he finished two-under today and is eight-under 136 for the tournament. There are three players that are one shot back from the leaderboard as Kenyon's Jaiden Koonar, Pennsylvania College of Technology's Peyton Mussina, and Emory's Jackson Klutznick all sit at seven-under 137.
