MEDFORD, MA (May 17, 2024) -- The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) announced the 2024 All-Conference golf teams today. The Jumbos had three recipients. Coach George Pendergast was also awarded NESCAC Coach of the Year.
Senior Jack Meehan was named to his second All-Conference first team as he was awarded this honor back in 2022. Last year Meehan was named to the All-Conference second team. Sophomore Holden Kittelberger and first-year Nick McCabe, were named to the second team, both for the first time.
Coach Pendergast is the second Jumbo coach to be named Coach of the Year, former Jumbos head coach Bob Sheldon was named coach of the year back in 2001-2002.
The Jumbos this season won their first NESCAC title in program history, which gave them an automatic bid into the program's first NCAA Golf Championship.
Meehan won his third NESCAC individual championship this year as he previously won the tournament back in 2020-21 and 2021-22, then this season was the co-champion. Meehan finished the tournament one under par. He finished the season ranked 21 in the region and 236 nationally. He averaged a score of 75 per round playing in 15 rounds.
Kittelberger was great for the Jumbos all season as he had two top-ten finishes this spring. Kittelberger is regionally ranked 52, his first top-ten finishes this spring came at the Bill Detrick Invitational where he finished fourth out of 81 players with a score of five over. His second top-ten finish came at the Williams Spring Invitational as he finished 8 shooting six over. Kittelberger averaged a score of 75.4 a round as he played 15 times this season.
McCabe is regionally ranked 18 going into the NCAA Tournament. His average score per round is 75 as he has played 13 total rounds. His best round this fall came at the Tim Brown Invitational where he finished 15.
Trinity College's Benjamin Boyd was awarded Golfer of the Year and Bowdoin College's Joey Zheng was awarded Rookie of the Year. For the full list click here.
