Tufts Men's Lacrosse Earns Eight on USILA All-American List

MEDFORD, MA (May 23, 2024) -- The Tufts University men's lacrosse squad will play for the 2024 Division III national crown this weekend on Sunday in Philadelphia, but before that the Jumbos earned some recognition as eight players earned a spot on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Blatant Lacrosse Division III All-American list. 

Sophomore attack Jack Regnery was named to the USILA First Team at attack, while junior middie Charlie Tagliaferri was selected to the Second Team. Junior Joey Waldbaum was a Third Team selection at defense, while attack Max Ettinghausen, middie Garrett Kelly, short stick midfielder Cam Delcristo, long stick midfielder Ben Frisoli and face-off specialist Parker Merril all were selected. 

Regnery has had a breakout season for the Jumbos at attack, as he posted the 11th 100-point season in program history, sitting with 109 points on 74 goals and 35 assists. He also leads the NESCAC in shots, and his seven man-up goals leads the team as well. 

Tagliaferri has been the top option in the midfield for the Jumbos, as he has 37 goals and 21 assists for 58 points through 20 games. Tagliaferri posted five points on three goals and two assists last week in the NCAA Semifinals against Washington & Lee University. 

Waldbaum led the Jumbos in caused turnovers with 30 this season, also ranking first in ground balls among players that do not face off with 70 on the season. He has at least one ground ball in every game this season. 

Ettinghausen ranked second on the team this year in points with 77, scoring 55 goals to go with 22 helpers at the attack position. He also put 61.9 percent of his shots on goal, tops among the starting unit. Kelly busted out as a sophomore, netting 36 goals to go with 11 assists for 47 points. The sophomore has six hat tricks on the season. 

Delcristo starts on the wing for the Jumbos, and has posted 12 goals and dished out two assists this season while causing 17 turnovers and picking up 35 ground balls. On the other win, Frisoli has scooped up 44 ground balls to go with 20 caused turnovers while scoring nine goals in 18 starts. 

Merril led the NESCAC in face-off percentage this season, winning 62.8 percent of this face-offs on the year. Merril has been outstanding in the NCAA Tournament as well, recording 49 ground balls in four games during this year. He also has won 42 of his 58 face-offs in the postseason.
