Firth Takes 15th At NCAA Championships In Pole Vault Thursday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (May 23, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's track and field squad had just one competitor at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this spring, and junior Sarah Firth finished 15th in the pole vault Thursday in action at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC. 

Firth was competing in her third NCAA Outdoor Championships in her career, and the junior passed on the first height of 3.41 meters before getting over 3.56 meters on her second attempt at the height. She would nail the next height of 3.71 meters on her first attempt, but dropped out at 3.76 meters to finisher her day. 

Yasmin Ruff of Washington University of St. Louis was the eventual national champion in the event with a final height of 4.06 meters, edging Gracie Holland of Wisconsin-Whitewater and her 4.01 meter finish.

Tufts is done for the weekend, but competition continues through Saturday.
