MIDDLEBURY, VT (September 14, 2024) - The Tufts University men's golf team opened up their season with a strong showing at the Duke Nelson Invitational, as they sit in 4th place of 22 teams in the tournament hosted by Middlebury College.
The four best scores for the Jumbos on the par 71 course total up to 302 strokes, just one stroke back of Middlebury and Hamilton, who are tied for second. They trail the tournament leaders Hartford by three strokes.
Leading the charge for the Jumbos was sophomore
Nick McCabe, who hit for an eighth best three over par (74). Just a stroke back was senior
Eric Lancellotti, who sits tied for 15th with a 75.
Rounding out the top four scorers for Tufts was junior
Holden Kittelberger and sophomore
JP Noone, who each hit for a 76 on day 1.
Hamilton's Ramon Aroca Gonzalez leads the individual scores with a stellar 70 in round 1.
The Jumbos will tee off for day 2 at 11:00 AM, Sunday, September 15.
