Men's Golf Finishes Seventh, Noone Earns Sixth at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (September 22, 2024) - The Tufts University men's golf team battled for a hard-fought seventh place at the Williams Fall Invitational at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass.

The Jumbos finished seventh of 19 teams, with a team score of 607, 17 strokes behind first place Gustavus Adolphus. Tufts finished behind NESCAC rivals Middlebury, Bowdoin and Amherst.

JP Noone starred on the second day of competition, hitting a 72 on day two, just one over par. The sophomore was stellar the whole way, totalling five birdies, with three coming on the front nine. His efforts were good enough to earn him sixth place in the individual competition, and healthily made him the best scoring Jumbo.

Sophomore Nick McCabe hit the ground running on day two, with two birdies in the first three holes. His total on day two would be 74, but his score on day one would keep him in 46th overall. His day two was fantastic, especially on the back nine, where he finished under par with a birdie on hole 12.

Sophomore Brendan Roy was the third highest Tufts scorer, finishing with a 79 on day two. A quadruple bogey early on did not phase Roy, as he finished the front nine with a birdie on hole nine. A bogey on the back nine was the only score that kept him from being perfectly par on the back half. Roy would finish 24th overall in the individual tally.

Even with Roy was junior Holden Kittelberger, who also hit a 79 on day two. Kittelberger's day two was highlighted by a two-stroke birdie on hole five. 

Senior Eric Lancellotti kept his best performance for last, as he birdied hole 18 to score an 81 on the day, good for 41st place overall after a strong first day.

The Jumbos will head up to Maine next weekend to compete in the Bowdoin College Invitational, teeing off on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
