BRUNSWICK, ME (October 12, 2025) -- The Tufts University women's tennis team finished action at the 2025 Polar Bear Invitational on Sunday afternoon, beating the rain for a solid third day of play.
The Jumbos opened play in the singles' action against Brandeis University, and senior
Ellie Gershaw topped Avani Chitale 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
Claudia Grove was a 7-6 (4), 6-4 winner at No. 3, while fellow first-year
Kyra McCandless earned a straight set victory over Milana Sofizade 6-3, 6-1.
Junior
Natalie Hu earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 spot, while
Nikki Kintiroglou picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6. Sophomore
Ryan Wuhrman also edged Grace Starcher 8-7 (5).
In doubles' play against Bowdoin,
Athena Li and Gershaw were 6-2 winners at their No. 3 match, while McCandless teamed with Brandeis' Marie Reyes to win at No. 5.
Tufts is done with the fall portion of its season, but will resume with dual match action in March.
