MEDFORD, MA (November 23, 2025) – The Tufts University men's swimming & diving team competed at home on Sunday in Hamilton Pool against local rival Brandeis University.
At their second meet in as many days, the Jumbos had the best times in all 14 swimming events. The two diving events were contested.
Freshman
Max Gerke was outstanding today, posting the top times in three individual events and helping a relay to victory. He had the top marks in the 50 backstroke (24.31), 100 backstroke (52.78) and 50 butterfly (22.73)
Gerke also swam the butterfly leg for the 200 medley relay which opened the meet with a 1:34.77 time that won the event. Freshman
Spencer Thompson led off in the 50 backstroke, senior
Will Kaminski swam the breaststroke leg and freshman
Aidan Cole anchored in the freestyle.
Thompson added the meet's #1 time in the 50 breaststroke, a 27.99 touch. Kaminski's 1:00.17 was best-mark for the 100 breaststroke. Cole had a pair of #2 times in the 50 backstroke at 25.87 seconds and the 100 freestyle with a 47.93 time, while also taking part in the 200 free relay.

Nate Pfeffer were the line-up for the 200 free relay which combined for a 1:26.72 finish.
Individually, Pfeffer's 1:44.49 was fastest in the 200 freestyle, and he also notched the second-best time of 54.39 seconds in the 100 back. Veterans
Armaan Sikka and
Rafae Shafi posted a top time and a second-best time today. The top mark for the senior Sikka was a 21.60 in the 50 freestyle, while the junior Shafi had his in the 500 freestyle (4:53.69). The 23.06 by Sikka in the 50 butterfly and the 1:46.34 mark by Shafi in the 200 freestyle were #2 times today. Senior
Connor Townson had #2 marks for the day in the 100 individual medley (54.26) and the 200 IM (1:59.03).
Single best-marks at the meet were achieved by sophomores
Nicolas Tudoras for the 100 butterfly in 53.89 seconds and
Timmy Brady for the 200 IM (1:58.68), as well as by freshmen
Nico Ogawa in the 100 IM at 53.53 seconds and
Isaac Shang in the 100 freestyle in 47.83 seconds.
Freshman
JJ Arbuckle in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.52), sophomore
Ron Lyubman in the 100 fly (53.99), junior
Jack Nussbaum in the 500 freestyle (5:00.28) and freshman
Frank Nguyen in the 50 breast (28.01) all earned #2 times in their events.
The final score of the men's meet – with the Jumbos not scoring its final four events – was Tufts 153 and Brandeis 74.
The Jumbos will next be in action December 5-7 at the MIT Invitational, their fall semester championship.
