MEDFORD, MA (November 23, 2025) – The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team competed in its second meet in as many days on Sunday, hosting Brandeis University at Hamilton Pool.
Tufts had the best marks in all 16 events today against their local foe.
Junior
Sydney Stasz was the top performing Jumbo, posting the best marks in three events. She was close to her own school record in the 100 individual medley (58.00) with her time of 58.82 seconds today. She also led the meet in the 50 breaststroke with a 31.04 mark. Her 2:12.75 finish in the 200 IM was also #1 today.
Sophomore
Alli Brown posted two top times and was part of a relay victory in the meet. Impressively, she was fastest in both the 50 freestyle (24.72) and the 500 freestyle (5:15.03). She also led off the 200 freestyle relay which had the best time in that event.
Fellow sophomores Oliva Pettit and Angel Smryniou added a top time each and were part of two first-place relays. The 25.46 that Smyrniou swam in the 50 butterfly was the best time there, as was Pettit's 27.72 in the 50 backstroke.
For the 200 medley relay to start the meet, Pettit led off followed by senior
Quinci Wheeler, Smyrniou and senior
Isa Chambers. Their 1:48.18 was the top mark. In the 200 freestyle relay at the end of the meet, Brown, Pettit, Smyrniou and first-year
Kate Urdaneta combined on a 1:39.88 fastest time.
Senior diver
Malia Leung had the top score in both events, while junior teammate
Arya Gupta was second in each. Leung's 274.80 score in one-meter was above the NCAA six-dive standard (255). She scored 252.89 in three-meter. Gupta recorded marks of 228.75 in one-meter and 228.60 in three-meter.
Wheeler's time of 52.70 seconds was #1 in the 100 freestyle, while she also swam the second-best mark in the 200 freestyle (1:57.39). She was behind senior classmate
Madeleine Dunn in the 200 free, with Dunn's best mark being 1:53.50. Dunn also had the #2 time in the 100 backstroke today (1:00.35).
It was junior
Elena Harrison who was fastest in the 100 back at 59.43 seconds. Earlier in the day Harrison had swam 1:00.08 in the 100 IM for the second-best mark. Chambers was second behind Wheeler in the 100 freestyle at 53.81 seconds.
Tufts' class of first-year swimmers had a good day.
Megan Treglia's 1:00.76 was #1 in the 100 butterfly, while Aria Howson's 1:10.04 was the best finish for the 100 breaststroke.
Abby Davis in the 50 back (28.80),
Emma Shane in the 50 breaststroke (31.21) and
Cloe Nader in the 500 freestyle (5:24.85) all swam #2 times today.
Returnees
Madison Hagberg,
Katharine Skelly,
Lila Strober and
Sweeney Su also finished with #2 times today. Hagberg was close behind Stasz in the 200 IM with a 2:13.32 mark. Skelly swam 26.84 for the second-best mark in the 50 fly, while Strober backed up Treglia in the 100 fly with a 1:01.48 touch. Su's 24.80 was next after Brown in the 50 free.
Tufts won the meet over Brandeis by a 184-60 count, with the Jumbos withholding their scores for the last five events.
Next for Tufts is the MIT Invitational December 5-7, which serves as the fall semester championship.
