CAMBRIDGE, MA (December 5, 2025) –
Sydney Stasz broke her own school record in the 100 individual medley and the Jumbos recorded four NCAA B cuts as the Tufts University women's swimming & diving team started at the MIT Winter Invitational on Friday night.
In a 100 IM time trial, Stasz finished in 57.40 seconds to break her previous school record of 58.00 set at this meet last year.
The Jumbos led off tonight's action with a strong 7:34.77 time in the 800 freestyle relay. The mark is under the NCAA B qualifying mark of 7:37.07 and was second at the meet.
Quinci Wheeler's lead 200 leg of 1:51.38 was also a B cut, and she was followed by
Sweeney Su,
Selin Tuncay and
Noa Chambers.
Tufts also had the fourth-place time in the 800 free relay of 7:39.08 by
Elena Harrison (a 1:52.18 lead leg),
Megan Treglia,
Clara Behling and
Sophia Knight.
The Jumbo pair of
Madeleine Dunn and
Cloe Nader went 1-2 with a pair of NCAA B marks in the 1650 freestyle tonight. Dunn won the race in a 16:57.45 time, while Nader was next at 17:08.26.
Behind the 800 free relay and 1650 free performances, Tufts leads the meet out of seven teams with 158 points. Host MIT is second (120), Middlebury College is third (113) and Hamilton College is fourth (107).
Other good marks in the time trials were submitted tonight by Wheeler in the 50 breaststroke (28.84),
Emma Shane for the 50 breast (29.80),
Katharine Skelly's 25.08 personal-best in the 50 butterfly and
Angel Smyrniou's 25.10 in the 50 fly.
Saturday's action at the MIT Winter Invitational will feature preliminaries beginning at 10:00 AM and finals starting at 6:00 PM.
