WATERVILLE, ME (February 13, 2025) - The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team opened the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships on Thursday night by finishing as the runner-up in the 800 freestyle relay.
The Jumbo foursome of
Madeleine Dunn,
Quinci Wheeler,
Selin Tuncay and
Noa Chambers put together a mark of 7:28.63 that was second in the event. The time was also well below the NCAA B cut (7:38.31). It's the #7 time in the 800 free relay all-time at Tufts. Dunn's 1:51.97 lead-off 200 is an NCAA B cut (1:52.17).
The Jumbos also scored 14th-place points with their mark of 7:39.90 from the B relay. The squad of
Cierra McCarty,
Sweeney Su,
Lara Wujciak and
Isa Chambers were third in the second heat.
Williams College won the 800 free relay conference title with a 7:20.87 time.
The second and 14th-place finishes earned Tufts 76 points for second place after day one of the Championship, which is being hosed by Colby College. Williams College leads at 90 and Middlebury College is third with 74 points.
Friday's action begins with preliminaries at 10 AM followed by finals in the evening at 6 PM. Competition in the 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 500 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, one-meter diving, the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay will fill the schedule on day two.
