MIDDLEBURY, VT - Senior
Lara Wujciak and sophomore
Sydney Stasz of the Tufts University women's swimming & diving team both improved season-best times while competing at the Women's Invitational on Sunday.
Held during a break at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Championships, the Women's Invitational is a final chance for individuals to improve times for national qualifying purposes. Wujciak and Stastz both did that.
In the 200 butterfly, Wujciak swam a season-best 2:03.57 today. That improved upon her prior best of 2:03.70 from the MIT Winter Invitational. It also improves her national ranking among qualifiers under the NCAA B cut time of 2:05.01. Â
Stasz timed 2:05.68 in the 200 individual medley today. It just got under the 2:05.70 B cut to get her into national contention. The mark improved upon her 2:05.74 time from the NESCAC Championship preliminaries last weekend.
Three other Jumbos competed today, but did not record season-bests. Sophomore
Mia Solomon narrowly missed doing so in the 100 breaststroke where today's time was 1:03.86. Her season-best 1:03.75 is already a B cut.
Sophomore
Selin Tuncay's 1:54.00 in the 200 freestyle was one second off her season-best (1:55.00). First-year
Olivia Pettit swam 2:04.89 in the 200 backstroke today, which was off her 2:02.33 season-best that is already a B cut.
Selections for the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be announced on Wednesday, February 26. The NCAA meet will be held March 19-22 at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
