Leung's 7th Leads Jumbos in NCAA Diving Regional 1-Meter Contest

SPRINGFIELD, MA (February 28, 2025) – Tufts University junior Malia Leung placed seventh in one-meter diving at the NCAA Division III Region 3 Women's Championships hosted by Springfield College on Friday.

In her 11-dive program, Leung earned scores adding up to a 414.55 mark. She was less than three points out of fifth place. Four Jumbos were in action overall at the meet, which featured the top 29 divers from the Region. First-year Luci Karp earned 16th place with a 394.50 score. First-year Riley Metz scored 21st with a 376.80 total. Sophomore Ayra Gupta was 27th (344.85).

With eight berths into the upcoming NCAA Division III National Championship meet allocated for divers at the Springfield Regional, Leung's seventh-place finish in one-meter today puts her in position to potentially receive an NCAA national berth.

Tomorrow's NCAA Diving Regional results in the three-meter competition will factor into the eight overall berths as well, with opportunities for all four Jumbos to solidify a spot. Openings for NCAA alternates are also up for grabs.

The women's three-meter event on Saturday will begin at approximately 4:30 PM, following the men's one-meter competition which starts at noon.
