SPRINGFIELD, MA (March 1, 2025) – Four Jumbo divers finished competing at the NCAA Division III Region 3 Women's Diving Championships today at Springfield College.
In the three-meter event, first-year
Luci Karp led Tufts with a 427.85 score for 12th place. Junior
Malia Leung took the 13th spot at a 422.40 score. First-year
Riley Metz scored 377.75 for 24th place, while sophomore
Arya Gupta was 28th (355.60).
Among the 11 dives for each, Karp had the Jumbos' single-highest scoring dive with a Back 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck for a 49.00 score. Leung's Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault Pike earned a 44.85 mark. Metz did a Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike and an Inward 2 Somersault Tuck that both scored 43.20 for her bests. Gupta had a Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike for 38.40 points.
Divers competed at the NCAA Regional Championships this weekend seeking to earn spots into the upcoming NCAA Championships. The Springfield site was allocated eight women's national qualifying berths based on the 30 divers who initially qualified for the Regional.
Leung's seventh-place finish in the one-meter event on Friday (414.55) puts her in position to at least earn a spot as an alternate. Unofficially she ranked 10th at the Regional overall with a combined one-meter and three-meter score of 836.95. Diving selections will be announced on Monday (Mar. 3).
The 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held March 19-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
