WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (April 20, 2025) -- The Tufts University men's golf team led by seven shots going into Round 2 at the 2025 Berkshire Invitational at Waubeeka Golf Links, holding off a late charge by host Williams College to earn the team title.
The Jumbos shot a two-day 11-over, two shots clear of the host Ephs while topping Hamilton College by six shots and Middlebury College by 32 strokes. Tufts was firing on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, as the squad was just one shot over par coming into Sunday's second round.
The Jumbos were led on Sunday by a very strong performance from
Brendan Roy, who tallied a even-par 71 which included a second-nine score of 34 thanks to a birdie on the Par-5 17th hole. Roy, who was third after day one of the tournament, was the Runner-Up Medalist for the weekend.
Junior
Holden Kittelberger was four-under after the first day of action, as he led with a 67. Kittelberger would have an up-and-down Sunday round, as he only tallied six pars for the round, but offset eight holes over par with four birdies to shot a five-over 76 to finish third overall.
Sophomore
JP Noone had another steady round for the Jumbos, as he repeated Saturday's 73 with another two-over round to finish tied for fifth place. Noone posted 14 pars on the day, and also shot a one-under 34 on the way in to post his second 73 of the weekend.
The Jumbos fourth finisher was
Reed Bodley, who tallied a three-over 74 despite recording four birdies on the day. Bodley would finished tied for seventh place, a shot behind Noone.
Keegan Carnell trimmed two shots off of his Saturday round, as he stayed in 20th place in the field after shooting a 76 on Sunday afternoon. Carnell tallied 13 pars on the round Sunday.
Eric Lancelotti was in the Top 10 after Saturday's round with a three-over 74, but Sunday was a tough go for him as he finished 25th overall with a 12-over 83.
The Jumbos final stroke count of 579, as the Jumbos have shot five straight rounds under 600 including Saturday's season-best 285.
Tufts will now look forward to this upcoming week's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships, a three-day, 54-hole event being played at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Massachusetts starting Friday afternoon.
