BLOOMFIELD, CT (April 5, 2025) - The Tufts University men's golf team performed well in their return to action as they finished tied for seventh out of 16 teams at the Bantams/Hawks Invitational at the Tumble Brook Country Club down in Connecticut.
Leading the way for the Jumbos in their spring debut was junior
Holden Kittelberger. He finished tied for 11th place individually after finishing three over par with a 75. The Junior started the day well with birdies on holes two and five, staying even with par through the front nine. A trio of bogies and a tough hole 14 would ultimately hold the junior back on day one, but still have him in a solid position going into day two.
Finishing with the same score as Kittelberger was sophomore
JP Noone, who also finished day one tied for 11th. It was a bit of a rollercoaster for Noone as he amassed five birdies, but also totalled six bogies and one double-bogey. Ultimately, the up-and-down day would see the sophomore finish three over par, but with plenty of chances to improve on certain holes in day two.
Junior
Reed Bodley was next best for the Jumbos on day one, finishing with an 82 for seven over par. A birdie on hole one was the only score under par for the junior on the day.
Graduate student Connor O'Holleran also earned one birdie on hole 12, but several bogies would see him finish eleven over par with an 83. The final golfer to compete for Tufts on day one was sophomore
Brendan Roy who finished 12 over par with an 84.
The Jumbos sit even with Farmingdale State and Williams in seventh place with 312 strokes as a team. Amherst currently leads after day one with 296 strokes as a team, just ahead of hosts Trinity and their 299.
They will resume competition tomorrow for round two at the Tumble Brook Country Club in Blooomfield at 10:00 am.
