CAMBRIDGE, MA (January 24, 2026) - Junior diver
Jay Wilkinson earned his career-best score in the three-meter event today as the Tufts University men's swimming & diving team competed in a dual meet at local rival MIT.
In the 11-dive program, Wilkinson accumulated a 531.43 score to win the three-meter event and top his previous personal-best mark of 525.70. Today's score was also above the NCAA three-meter qualifying standard for Wilkinson.
He was also first in the one-meter competition today, accumulating a 540.00 score that was over the NCAA 11-dive standard. Junior diver
Elias Brandt also topped the NCAA qualifying marks in both events, scoring 512.10 for second place in one-meter, and 479.24 for third in three-meter.
Jack Nussbaum continued his strong junior season at Tufts by winning the 100 breaststroke today in a time of 56.49 seconds. Tufts also received a winning swim from freshman
Isaac Shang in the 50 freestyle with a 20.73 time.
Nussbaum and Shang also played roles in Tufts' relay finishes. In the 200 medley relay to begin the meet, Nussbaum was the second leg with freshman
Nico Ogawa leading off and freshman
Max Gerke and senior
Armaan Sikka finishing up. They were second by a very close margin with their 1:30.79 time. The 400 freestyle relay to complete the swimming events today had Tufts third (3:03.49) with Shang, Gerke, junior
Jan Springer and Sikka.
Ogawa, Gerke and Sikka were also among the Jumbos who posted runner-up marks today. Ogawa's came in the 100 backstroke where he matched his season-best with a time of 44.87 seconds. Gerke timed a career-best of 45.85 seconds for second place in the 100 freestyle. Sikka's 49.71 season-best time in the 100 butterfly was also second.
Sophomore
Ron Lyubman and freshman
Spencer Thompson added runner-up swims for the Jumbos in the 500 freestyle (4:42.27) and 200 backstroke (1:53.17), respectively.
Junior
Dan Godino recorded Tufts' best mark and was third overall with a 9:50.68 touch in the 1000 freestyle. Freshmen
JJ Arbuckle and
Harry Belbot did the same. Arbuckle's 2:04.90 led Tufts and was third in the 200 breaststroke, while Belbot paced the Jumbos and was third in the 200 butterfly with his 1:52.89 career-best.
Ogawa added a third in the 200 individual medley (1:54.57 season-best) to lead the Jumbos there, while Sikka's 1:42.98 was the top Tufts time in the 200 freestyle (fifth overall).
Tufts, ranked #18 in the recently-release College Swimming Coaches Association of American DIII January poll, lost the meet 183.5 to 114.5 against the #6 Engineers.
The Jumbos are idle next week before beginning their championship season at the Boston Winter Open hosted by BU February 6-7.
