CAMBRIDGE, MA (January 24, 2026) - The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team won both relays today during a dual meet at local rival MIT.
Tufts' 200 medley relay foursome of junior

Angel Smyrniou and senior
Katharine Skelly combined on a 1:43.88 mark to open the meet with a victory for the Jumbos. In the final swimming event of the day, Wheeler, senior

Sydney Stasz and Skelly won with a 3:28.09 time.
Both Jumbo relay marks are faster than the NCAA B cuts for each event. Tufts had been second behind MIT in both the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay at the MIT Invitational in December.
The Jumbos totaled five wins overall today. Tufts received a pair of first-place finishes from senior
Madeleine Dunn. She won the 1000 freestyle with a 10:06.36 time that is her season-best early in the meet. Later on she swam 2:02.44 for a victory in the 200 backstroke. Stasz added a win in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:05.83 time. She also scored runner-up points in the 100 freestyle, where her 52.49 mark led the Jumbos.
In addition to her role on both relays, Wheeler also took second place individually in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.22). Smyrniou had an individual runner-up mark as well, racing to a time of 56.53 seconds in the 100 butterfly. As did
Isa Chambers, whose 24.21 was second for the 50 freestyle. Chambers additionally had Tufts' best time in the 200 freestyle, and her season-best, of 1:54.57 (fourth overall).
Senior
Madison Hagberg swam another second-place performance for Tufts in the 100 backstroke with her 58.46 touch. Sophomore
Olivia Pettit was second behind Dunn in the 200 back (2:04.75). First-year
Megan Treglia checked in with firsts for Tufts and fourths overall in both the 200 butterfly (2:06.41) and 200 individual medley (2:09.46 season-best). Classmate
Cloe Nader led the Jumbos in the 500 freestyle, where her 5:06.47 was fourth overall.
For diving, senior
Malia Leung and first-year
Anya Buyea both hit NCAA qualifying marks in one-meter. Leung placed third with a 446.80 score (11 dives), while Buyea tallied 396.97 in one-meter. In the three-meter event, Buyea just missed the 11-dive qualifying mark with her 409.72 score (Leung did not compete in three-meter).
The Jumbos, ranked #9 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America DIII January poll announced this week, were defeated in the team scoring by the #5 Engineers today 187 to 112.
Tufts will return to action on February 6-7 at the Boston Winter Open, the meet hosted by Boston University which begins the championship season for the Jumbos.
