MEDFORD, MA (January 5, 2026) -- For the first time in 2025-26 standout senior forward
Scott Gyimesi was named as the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week after helping the Jumbos to a 2-0 week including an 18-point win over No. 17 WPI on Saturday.
Gyimesi helped lead No. 21 Tufts to a pair of wins, including knocking off No. 17 WPI on Saturday. The senior forward averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds and was 19-of-29 (65.5%) from the floor on the week. On Wednesday against Clark, Gyimesi finished with 22 points, including hitting the game-winning shot with 0.1 seconds to play in a 79-77 win. He then posted another double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds in a 70-52 win over WPI.
The award was the sixth career honor for Gyimesi, who was the first NESCAC player since 2009-10 to win the weekly award four times in a year last campaign.
Tufts travels to Bowdoin College Friday evening at 7 PM for the NESCAC opener in Brunswick, Maine.
