NEW LONDON, CT (February 27, 2026) - Junior
Jay Wilkinson placed fourth and junior
Elias Brandt was sixth as the Jumbos opened competition at the NCAA Region 3 Diving Championships on Friday with the three-meter event. The contest featured 12 competitors overall.
Diving at Connecticut College's Lott Natatorium, Wilkinson compiled a 469.45 score in his 11-dive program and Brandt finished with a 447.05 total. Wilkinson recorded his best score on his sixth dive, a Forward 2 1/2 Somersault Pike for a 50.40 score. Brandt earned his best score on his final dive, an Inward 2 1/2 Somersault Tuck that earned a 52.65 score.
Carter Cov from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy won the Regional championship in three-meter with a 500.00 score. Haochen Liu from Williams College was second (482.10). Both divers earned spots in the 2026 NCAA National Championships with their performances today.
Based upon the results from both events, a total of four divers from the Connecticut College Regional will advance to NCAA's. Wilkinson will likely need a higher finish in the one-meter event tomorrow to solidify a spot at Nationals. Brandt will need one of the top finishes in one-meter to qualify nationally. Saturday's action begins at noon.
