Ethan Ullrick of the Tufts University hockey team are two of 36 players named as semifinalists for the 25
th Annual Joe Concannon Award, presented to the best America-born NCAA Division II/III hockey player in New England. This marks the first time Resnick and Ullrick earned that recognition.
The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for college hockey while being a strong advocate for amateur athletics.
Resnick currently leads the team in plus/minus at +9 and is third on the team in total points with 17 in 18 games. Resnick sits at second on the Jumbos in goals with eight and his nine assists ranks fourth. Resnick tallied a goal and two assists in a 5-1 rout over Babson and currently holds a five-game point streak. Resnick earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors last season.
Ullrick leads Tufts with 23 points, which tied for second in the NESCAC. He leads the Jumbos with nine goals and 14 assists in just 18 games played. Ullrick is also tied for third on the team with a plus/minus of +6. Ullrick is on a five-game point streak as well and pocketed two goals in two of the last three games. Ullrick was named NESCAC Player of the Week on November 17.
The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, which sponsors the award, will announce the finalists and winner of the 25
th Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of the NCAA Frozen Four.
