MALVERN, PA (March 29, 2026) – The Tufts University men's golf team ranked third after a promising showing in round one at the Swarthmore College Invitational at the White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

The Jumbos were headlined by junior JP Noone as he finished with a day one score of one over par. The Weston native started off strong with eight straight holes of par or better golf and finished of the front nine one under par with a stroke total of 34. Noone capped off his day with a steady final nine holes that included seven pars and two bogeys to finish with a score of 72 to capture a tied for fourth place finish individually after the opening round.

Nick McCabe finished three over par just behind Noone with an opening round score of 74. McCabe responded to three straight early bogeys in the first four holes with three birdies and eight pars in the following 14 holes. After a +3 total on the front nine McCabe showed his resilience and shot an even par total of 36 on the back to collect a tied for eighth place ranking individually after 18 holes.

Senior golfer Holden Kittelberger ranked third amongst this talented Jumbo crew with a first day stroke total of 75. Similar to other Tufts golfers, Kittelberger picked up a couple of early bogeys within the first three holes and responded with a birdie and four pars to end his first nine holes two over par and tied for 15th individually.

Sophomore Brooks Cahill-Sanidas notched a solid day one total of 76 for Tufts. Cahill-Sanidas struggled early on with three bogeys in his first six holes, but found some rhythm as he parred the following six holes. The Princeton native put together a strong back nine, which included just two holes above and a birdie on the par 4 15th hole.  The sophomore is currently tied for 19th individually after the first round in Malvern.

Brendan Roy rounded out the scorecards at seven over par for the Jumbos with an opening day score of 78. The junior collected six pars in his first nine holes to finish three over par on the front. The back nine gave Roy some problems as he recorded five straight bogeys between the 12th and 16th holes, but the Sterling native finished strong with a par and a birdie on the final two holes.

Tufts sits seven strokes behind the event leaders Franklin & Marshall and five strokes behind Dickinson who currently holds second place. The squad will try to climb their way into first from third with two rounds set to be played tomorrow at 9 AM.
