MALVERN, PA (March 30, 2026) – The Tufts University men's golf team took home a third place finish in the three round two day Swarthmore College Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania to open their spring season.
After finishing day one in third place as a team, the Jumbos stayed focused for the 36 holes ahead of them on day two.
Brendan Roy was on a mission today in the morning round, setting a career-best three under par score (69) in the first 18 of today to help the Jumbos remain in third as a team.
Holden Kittelberger was solid in the second day of action to help bolster this Jumbo crew. The sole senior shot four over par after starting on hole two and was just one over through his first 14 holes, but a double bogey pushed him back in the final few holes. In round three, the Texas native started off hot by shooting dead even through his first nine holes and finished with an even par score of 71. Kittelberger placed 4th individually after 54 holes of play in the field of 83 golfers.
JP Noone dropped from fourth place to 19th place after starting three over in his first three holes in round two. The junior jumped back into 11th with a score of 77 after shooting one under through his next eight holes. Noone completed his three rounds in 9th individually following a round three total of 73, which included an impressive back nine of two under par.
Roy started on hole three in the shotgun start and was on fire out of the gate. In the junior's first nine holes (3-11), he put together six pars and three birdies with no bogey holes and just 33 strokes during that stretch. The Sterling native did not have the same success in the final round with a score of 78 to finish the event in 17th place individually in the final standings.
Sophomore golfer
Brooks Cahill-Sanidas had a strong day two with a stroke total of 73 in the first round of the day which was second on the Jumbos behind Roy's impressive morning 18. The Princeton native went from 19th to 12th individually after his two over par score. Cahill-Sanidas rounded out the first event of the spring season with a score of 77 in the final round to place 20th overall.
Nick McCabe started on the first hole in the morning round, but struggled early with four bogeys in the first five holes and finished with a second round total of 82. The junior regained his form in the third round by starting with six par or better marks in his first seven holes. McCabe finished the third round with a respectable three over par score to finish in the top 50.
Tufts finished behind Franklin & Marshall by two strokes and Dickinson took home the team victory. The Jumbos opened the spring with a strong bronze performance and will look to build from it next weekend in Hartford, Connecticut at the Trinity College (Conn.) Bantams Invitational.
