BALLSTON SPA, NY (April 11, 2026) – The Tufts University men's golf team currently ranks seventh out of 17 teams with a new lineup after round one of the Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club in Ballston Spa, New York.
The Jumbos featured a completely different lineup than the previous two tournaments, which were headlined by
Reed Bodley who shot two over par. The junior started on the 15th hole in the shotgun start and picked up three bogeys on his first three holes. Bodley went on to shoot two under for the remaining 15 holes to capture an impressive stroke total of 73. The Sudbury native currently sits at seventh as the lone Jumbo in the top-10 individually.
Jason Zawtocki followed closely behind Bodley with a three over par finish on day one. The first year started on the 16th hole and delivered a five-hole stretch three birdies and two pars after posting two bogey on his first two holes. Zawtocki tallied six birdies in his up and down opening round to finish with a stroke total of 74 which has him in 12th individually.
First Year's
Ben Thomson and
Doug Eastman captured identical seven over par rounds on the first day. Thompson struggled early as well with four bogeys and a double bogey in his first five holes, but the California native responded strongly with 11 straight holes of par or better golf. Eastman followed the theme of early struggles as all five Jumbos started on what would typically be the final holes of the course. Eastman put a stretch together between the 2nd and 8th hole of seven consecutive par or better holes, including an eagle on the third hole. Both golfer sit t-39th individually after the opening 18 holes.
Keegan Carnell rounded out the scorecards for the Jumbos with a nine over par day one. The Junior notched a birdie on the 10th hole and currently ranks 64th individually on day one with a stroke total of 80.
The Jumbos sit behind four NESCAC opponents after the opening round. Tufts trails Hamilton by two strokes, Williams by three strokes, Trinity (Conn.) by seven strokes, and Amherst, who currently leads, by nine strokes. The squad will try to climb the leaderboard tomorrow at 9 AM with one round remaining.
