LA CROSSE, WI (May 21, 2026) – Junior
Harris Gulbransen earned a second team All-American accolade on Thursday as the Tufts University men's track & field team started at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
Gulbransen placed 13th in the 10,000 meters final on Thursday night with a 30:04.88 time. The second team All-American award (places ninth through 16th) is his third career All-American honor combined in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field.
Seniors
Josh Wilkie and
Quinn Hampson also qualified for the finals in their events as the Jumbos enjoyed a solid first day at the national championships in Wisconsin.
Wilkie won the first heat of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.96 seconds that places him into the final on Saturday at 3:25 PM Central Time (CST). The mark improves his #4 all-time ranking at Tufts, and was three-tenths of a second faster than his previous career-best time of 52.26 seconds from earlier this season.
Senior
Cam McLeod's 53.49 mark was sixth in the third heat and 14th overall in the 400 hurdles, which did not qualify for the final. It is a second-team All-American award though, which is his second overall and first individually.
Hampson ran 3:46.69 in the 1500 meters today to earn a finals berth, which went to the top four in each of the two heats and then the next four fastest times. Hampson's mark was third in the second heat, and was also the third-best time from the heats overall. The 12-man final is set for Saturday at 1:35 PM CST.
Senior
Cullen McCaleb finished with a 3:51.82 time in the 1500 that did not qualify for the final. He was sixth in the first heat and 15th overall. That finish earns McCaleb a second-team All-American honor, which is his third in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field combined.
Tomorrow is a light day at the NCAA meet for the Tufts men, with only Wilkie competing in the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries at 4:25 PM CST.
