LA CROSSE, WI (May 22, 2026) – Senior
Josh Wilkie had an unfortunate fall early in his 110-meter hurdles preliminaries race in the Tufts University men's track & field team's only action on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships Friday.
Lined up in lane four of the eight-man first heat, Wilkie stumbled over the first hurdle and could not recover. He did not finish the race and therefore did not qualify for the final.
Four competitors fell during a bizarre first heat of the 110 hurdles.
Wilkie will return to action on Saturday in the 400-meter hurdles final at 3:25 PM Central Time (CST). He won the first heat in that event on Thursday with a 51.96 mark.
Despite today's misfortune, Wilkie had a tremendous senior season in the 110 hurdles. He broke the school record twice, establishing 14.10 as the new program standard. He also won titles in the event at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association and New England Small College Athletic Conference Championships.
Along with Wilkie in the 400 hurdles final, Tufts will have senior
Randy Hamilton in the javelin throw preliminaries and finals on Saturday at 11 AM CST, and senior
Quinn Hampson in the 1500 meters final on Saturday at 1:35 PM CST.
