Jared Engelking was the runner-up at the Bates
Pentathlon to start his 2009-10 season

LEWISTON, Me. -- Five members of the Tufts University men's
indoor track & field team were among 10 athletes overall who
participated at the Bates Pentathlon event on Saturday.
Senior quad-captain Jared Engelking (Westborough,
MA) led the Jumbos by scoring 3,316 points for second
place overall. Senior Trevor Donadt (Northborough,
MA) was third overall with 3,152 points. Also competing
for Tufts were freshman Michael Blair (Wellesley,
MA), senior Bobby Bardin (Longmeadow,
MA), and freshman Tobias Reeuwijk (Honolulu,
HI). Their point totals were 2,937, 2,776, and 2,770
respectively.
Jumbos won three of the five events. Engelking's time of 8.5
seconds was first in the 60 meter hurdles for 860 points. Blair
topped the high jump field with a best performance of 1.89m (6'2")
for 705 points. Reeuwijk was the fastest in the 1,000 meter run
with a 2:51.47 time (750 points).
Southern Maine's James Spaulding won the event with 3,389
points.
