LOWELL -- The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field
team competed at the George Davis Invitational hosted by the
University of Massachusetts Lowell today. The meet was non-scoring,
and the hammer throw competition remains to be held on Sunday.
Two second-place finishes were the best by the Jumbos at the
meet. Senior Trevor Donadt (Northborough, MA) was
the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.11
seconds, eight-tenths of a second off the NCAA provisional mark
(54.30). Freshman Curtis Yancy (St. Louis, MO)
made a strong showing in the discus throw, posting a 141'5"
(43.10m) mark that was second-best out of 31 entrants.
Donadt was also third in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in
15.36 seconds. Fourth-place performances were given by freshman
Jeff Marvel (Naples, FL) in the 800 meters
(1:57.35) and freshman Gbola Ajayi (Lagos,
Nigeria) in the triple jump (41'9 3/4"/12.74m).
The Tufts team will be in action at Princeton and at MIT next
weekend (Apr. 16-17), the last before the start of the championship
season.
