ENGELKING FINISHES SECOND AT LAST-SECOND MULTI WITH NCAA PROVISIONAL SCORE

MEDFORD -- Senior quad-captain Jared Engelking (Westborough, MA) of the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team scored 6,329 points at the Last Second Multi decathlon event hosted by the Jumbos at Dussault Track over the weekend (Apr. 10-11). The score provisionally qualifies Engelking for the NCAA Championships, surpassing the 6,050 standard.

Engelking was second at the meet. Bates College's Jesse Chapman won with 6,586 points. Jumbos Frank DeSalvo (Naples, FL), junior Bobby Bardin (Longmeadow, MA), and freshman Michael Blair (Wellesley, MA) also competed and finished fifth (4,900), sixth (4,729), and seventh (4,397), respectively.

Engelking finished the 110 hurdles in 14.78 seconds on the first day of the competition to score 876 points. On Sunday, his best event was the 400 meters, in which his time of 52.30 seconds accumulated 712 points. His 11.95 seconds finish in the 100 meters on Sunday earned him 661 points.
