PRINCETON, N.J. -- With a great effort on a rainy, frigid evening in Princeton, New Jersey, senior Jesse Faller (Burlington, MA) claimed his fourth Tufts University record on Friday night at the Larry Ellis Invitational. His 14:17.10 time not only bettered Matt Lacey's mark of 14:19.37 (2005) by over two seconds, but it also qualified him automatically for the national championships this spring. Faller finished 10th overall in the race and was the top DIII finisher. As of this weekend, Faller currently sits at the top spot in the nation for the 5,000m and fourth overall in the 10k.

The race set up perfectly for Faller, whose opening mile of 4:32 continued smoothly to a 9:07 at the 3200m mark However, even more impressive than the first 3200m of the race would be Faller's kick. He closed the final 600m of the race in 95 seconds, with a final 200m of 30 flat. Faller, who anchored the Tufts DMR in 4:08 this winter, brings a great balance of speed and strength to the 5k and 10k distances.
