WESTFIELD, MA - Senior Alex Gresham (Milton, MA) of the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team won the hammer throw at the 2011 Gerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State College on Saturday. That was the top performance by the Jumbos, who scored 27 points overall to finish 11th.
Gresham's winning distance was 158'5" (48.30m). Junior Adam Aronson (Norwood, MA) also placed sixth in the hammer with a 138'7" (42.24m) launch. Aronson added another sixth place in the discus throw, whirling a 121'1" (36.90m) best.
Freshman Trevor Rothaus (Pacentia, CA) had a solid spring debut by tying for third place in the pole vault. He got over the bar at 13'1 1/2" (4.00m).
Tufts also had sixths from freshman Graham Beutler (Weston, CT) in the 400 meters (50.70 seconds) and sophomore Michael Blair (Wellesley, MA) in the triple jump (40'2"/12.24m).
The Jumbos host the annual Snowflake Classic at Dussault Complex next Saturday.
