JUMBOS HOST LAST INVITATIONAL BEFORE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON BEGINS NEXT WEEKEND

MEDFORD - The Tufts men's outdoor track & field team hosted an invitational at Dussault Track on Saturday, the last regular-season competition for the team before the championships start next weekend.

At a small meet, a trio of Jumbos posted the best performances in field events. Senior Sam Read's (Barkhamsted, CT) 14'4" (4.37m) in the pole vault was first. In the discus throw, 128'0" (39.02) distance by freshman Atticus Swett (Bow, NH) topped a seven-man field. Also in the throws, sophomore Curtis Yancy (St. Louis, MO) won the hammer in 162'4" (49.49m).

In the track events, the 4x400 meter relay of freshman Graham Beutler (Weston, CT), sophomore Lawrence Xia (Acton, MA), freshman Clint Porte (Chicopee, MA) and freshman Daniel Lange-Vagle (St. Paul, MN) combined on a 3:26.81 time.  Senior Jeff Prunier (Worcester, MA) ran 23.93 in the 200 and 53.47 in the 400.
