CJ Moss nailed all three of his three-point attempts and scored 11 points

NEW LONDON, CT – The Tufts University Jumbos raced out to a 48-23 first-half lead and went on to defeat the Connecticut College Camels 83-55 in a NESCAC men's basketball game played at Luce Field House Saturday. Freshman guard C.J. Moss (Westport, MA) led four Jumbos who scored in double digits with 11 points.
The Jumbos improve their record to 12-5 and 4-2 in NESCAC play, tied for third place with Bates. The Camels fall to 6-12 with a 0-6 mark in conference action.
Along with Moss, freshman Ben Ferris (Essex Junction, VT), sophomore Tom Folliard (Richmond, VT) and sophomore Oliver Cohen (Penn Valley, PA) chipped in with 10 points each for the visitors. The Jumbos shot 51.7 percent (31/60) in the game, including 8 for 22 on three-pointers (36.4 percent). Moss was 3 for 3 from long distance. Senior Alex Orchowski (Cornwall, NY) had a game-high 10 rebounds to go with eight points.
Connecticut College sophomore Matt Vadas (Spring Lake Heights, NJ) scored 16 points to lead the Camels in the setback. Boris Jeremic (Rijeka, Croatia) finished with nine points in the loss.
The Tufts bench contributed 17 points in the opening half. The visitors closed out the first stanza with a 5-0 run to lead by 25 at teh break. Junior tri-captain Scott Anderson (Sudbury, MA) converted a pair of free throws and Cohen closed out the half with a three-ball to put the Jumbos on top 48-23 at the break.
Vadas scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half, but the Jumbos continued to pull away for the 83-55 win.
Tufts will visit UMass-Boston for a 7:00 pm game Thursday night. The Camels will visit Wesleyan University next Saturday for a 4:00 pm NESCAC game in Middletown, Conn.
