Lydon Promoted To Associate Head Coach

MEDFORD, MA (June 15, 2026) -- Tufts University head coach Brandon Linton announced recently the elevation of Chris Lydon to associate head coach after three successful seasons on the bench fo the Jumbo men's basketball squad as an assistant. 

Lydon has spent the last three seasons as an assistant in charge of many roles within the program, including player development, recruiting, travel and other operational roles. 

"Chris has been instrumental in the success of our program during his tenure as an assistant," said Linton. "His impact has been felt across all facets of our operation and I am excited to have him recognized for his hard work. 

Since his arrival in Medford, Lydon has been on the coaching staff for some of the best times in Jumbo men's basketball history. Over the last three seasons, Lydon helped assist the program to their second Elite Eight NCAA Tournament appearance in school history this year. Lydon showcases an overall record of 66-20 (0.767) with the Jumbos, a NESCAC record of 21-9 (.700), as well as a 6-3 (.667) record in three years in the NCAA Tournament.

Previously, Lydon was an assistant coach at Suffolk University from 2021-23 where he helped the Rams to back-to-back 16 win seasons during the program's first two years in the Conference of New England. Prior to Suffolk, Lydon was an assistant coach at Wheaton College for the 2020-21 season where he worked under head coach Brian Walmsley. 

During the 2019-20 season, Lydon served as a volunteer at Division I Northeastern University. As part of the Huskies' staff, he helped with video analysis and on-court metrics, as well as tracking play-call success rate. Lydon worked under head coach Bill Coen.

The former University of Massachusetts player earned a full scholarship with the Minutemen after walking on to the Division I program and playing under head coach Derek Kellogg. He graduated in 2016 with Scholar-Athlete honors from the UMass Isenberg School of Business in the Mark H. McCormack Sports Management program.
