Freshman Stephen Haladyna was one of five Jumbos to score in double digits with 15

BOSTON - The Tufts University Jumbos (6-5 overall) scored the program's most points in a game since 2006 as they topped the Suffolk University men's basketball team (4-4 overall) 111-76 on Saturday afternoon in the Regan Gymnasium.
Five players finished in double digits in scoring for the Jumbos as they shot 55.8 percent from the floor as a team. Tufts connected on 15 three-pointers in the game. The 111 points are the most for Tufts since a 118-109 win over Keene State in three overtimes on December 6, 2006. It's the highest scoring game for the Jumbos in regulation since a 116-97 victory against UMass Boston on January 6, 2005.
Sophomore Ben Ferris (Essex Junction, VT) finished with a team-high 18 points to lead the Jumbos, while freshman Stephen Haladyna (Hamilton, MA) was 6 for 10 from the field, including a 3 for 4 performance from beyond the arc for 15 points.
Senior Colin Halpin (Melrose, MA) led all scorers with 27 points as he opened the game connecting on his first seven field goals. Halpin finished the game 11 for 13 and was 4 for 6 from the three-point line. Senior Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, MA) led all rebounders in the game with 10 as he recorded his 55th career double-double also netting 15 points in the setback.
The story of the game however was the Jumbos' ability to shoot. They finished the first half with a 55-37 lead going into the break as they shot 63.6 percent from three (7 for 11) in the opening half. Freshman Tom Palleschi (Haverhill, MA) paced a balance offensive attack as he scored 10 of his 13 total points in the first half from down low, while sophomore C.J. Moss (Westport, MA) was a perfect 3 for 3 on treys for a nine-point first half.
Things didn't slow down in the second half either with an 8 for 13 three-point land performance for the Jumbos as Ferris was 4 for 5 from the field, with a pair of three-pointers for a 12-point second half.
Palleschi and senior Scott Anderson (Sudbury, MA) each finished the game with 13 points, while Moss recorded 12 points in the victory.
Senior Chris Torres (Brockton, MA) had 10 points in a losing effort for Suffolk, while freshman Caleb Unni (Winchester, MA) had a game-high five assists along with six points.
Tufts held a slight edge in rebounds in the game at 40-39, but was able to convert on the offensive glass holding a 27-15 edge in second-chance points. The Jumbos also forced 15 Ram turnovers that they were able to convert into 35 points.
The game was the final game for each team of the first half as they both head into the winter break. Tufts will be back in action on January 4, 2013 as they host Williams College in a NESCAC matchup at 6:00 pm. The Rams will be idle until Saturday, January 5 when they travel across town to Emmanuel College for a GNAC matchup at 1:00 pm.
